To reduce the drudgery from the lives of workers who roll 3,000 incense sticks a day with bare hands to earn as little as Rs. 20 per 1,000 sticks, an IIT Gandhinagar graduate is developing a low cost machine.Keshav G, a student from the maiden batch of IITGN who graduated this year, started developing the machine as a classroom project a year ago.<br />

When Keshav came face to face with slum dwellers in Bangalore making bundles of sticks for a pittance, he took up a project to design a low cost machine that would produce incense sticks at a faster rate to generate more income.<br />

According to the innovator, it doubles production. The machine is ergonomically designed to mitigate back pain and other spinal problems. A woman can roll out 6,000 sticks a day. Keshav said, The idea struck me when I was interning at a village in Bangalore last year. I had witnessed the village women preparing the incense sticks. I saw their hardship and decided to use my knowledge to ease their problems.<br class="Apple-interchange-newline" /><br />

Sruthi Vijayachandran, a postgraduate student from Tamil Nadu, has been awarded a scholarship to study MBA at the London School of Business Finance after being awarded the First Prize in the final of the Best Young Speaker from Asia competition held at Robinson College, University of Cambridge.<br />

Ms. Vijayachandran, who hails from Coonoor, was among nine young English language students from across Asia flown to Britain to take part in the competition that involved giving two presentations with a business theme and answering a series of questions put to them by an expert panel.<br />
She described it as “an amazing experience”.<br />

Simon Wright of the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (English for Speakers of Other Languages Examinations), which organised the competition, said: “Sruthi has a real flair for communications and this really showed on the day. Her talent and ability really caught the eyes of the judges and I’d like to congratulate her for such an impressive performance.”<br />
<br />
Organisers said that Ms. Vijayachandran, who holds a Master’s Degree in public relations, secured a place in the final by “impressing judges with her English speaking ability” at the regional rounds held earlier this year.<br />
<br />
She also recently passed Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC) – a high level business English qualification developed by Cambridge ESOL.<br />

Rachana Nandan, will get Rs 56 lakh per annum Job from the Social Networking Giant ‘Facebook’  .She will joined in California after finishing her last semester in March 2013.<br />

She qualified in the Facebook online test on July 22 and aviated to New Delhi with three others, all boys, for a face-to-face interview on August 4.<br />

Rachana Nandan hails from Patna but from childhood live in Guwahati where she completed 10th and 10+2 from Kendriya Vidyalaya with 90 % and 91.4 % marks respectively.She likes dance and dramatics.She was also involved in ‘Kartavya’,the students’ outfit of ISM that educates over 10,000 slum children.<br />

ISM director D.C. Panigrahi couldn’t stop praising the student. “The entire institute is proud of Rachana. I’ll share the credit between Rachana, herteachers and ISM. The best part is that it will fuel the ambitions of other students, who’ll work harder now,” Panigrahi said.<br />

“I must thank my family and teachers for this day. My family supported our technical aptitudes. Rashmi completed her BTech in electronics engineering this year, while Abhishek is in Class VIII. He’s the baby of the family, but is technologically wired like us,” said Rachana Nandan.</div>
