Terror linksMaharashtra Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) suspected Laila Khan of having links with the Pakistani spy agency ISI and the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Tryst with Bollywood
Laila Khan (born as Reshma Patel) was a Pakistan born actress, best known for her role opposite Rajesh Khanna in the 2008 Bollywood movie Wafaa. It was a comeback film for Rajesh Khanna, however, it bombed at the box office and received mostly negative reviews.
Sawant was shooting his second film Jinnat with Laila just before she disappeared from Mumbai. He had also then lodged a missing complaint.
Fame after death
Capitalising on the controversy, the makers of the film have now decided to re-release her film, Wafaa. "We are going to re-release the movie this year on television. The producers and distributors have already spoken to a TV channel regarding the satellite rights. This will give a chance to all curious viewers to see who Laila Khan was and how she acted," says director Rakesh Sawant, adding, "The re-release is also a gift to all fans of Kakaji (Rajesh Khanna) as he is in hospital and this was his last movie."
He says he's not encashing on the opportunity. "The film flopped as it released around Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Ghajini," he says.
